Kesari Veer 2025 Movie Review
Directed by Prince Dhiman, Veer Kesari centers on Hamirji Gohil (Sooraj Pancholi), a warrior defending Saurashtra and the Somnath Temple against the destructive ambitions of Zafar Khan (Vivek Oberoi). Hamirji is supported by Vegdaji (Suniel Shetty) and members of the Bhil tribe in their fight against the invaders. Will they succeed in protecting the temple? The film holds the answer.
The first half of Veer Kesari struggles to define itself, leaving viewers unsure if it’s a war drama or a biopic. The introduction sequences for the main characters—Hamirji, Vegdaji, and Rajal (Akanksha Sharma)—are overly dramatic yet lack depth. Suniel Shetty sports a striking makeover, but it’s a highlight in an otherwise disjointed narrative where characters appear and vanish without leaving a mark. Vivek Oberoi’s portrayal of Zafar Khan aims for the chaotic intensity of Ranveer Singh’s Khilji in Padmaavat but veers into overacting.
The second half takes an unintentionally comical turn. As Hamirji, racing against time to confront the invaders on horseback, is halted by his love interest Rajal, who proposes marriage “if only for one day,” the film detours into an elaborate wedding sequence. This oddly timed romantic interlude overshadows the looming threat, with Hamirji only resuming his mission after the wedding night.
