Dirty Angels 2024 Movie Review

Set against the chaotic backdrop of Afghanistan in 2021, the story opens with Jake (Eva Green) enduring a traumatic capture by ISIS leader Amir (George Iskandar), who executes her team after a botched rescue. Fast-forward to the present: a group of teenage girls, including daughters of diplomats, is taken hostage by Amir’s forces, demanding $10 million per girl and the release of a prisoner, Sheik Al-Shimali.

With Delta Force failing, Jake is recruited to lead a team of tough, skilled women posing as medics to infiltrate the terrorist stronghold. The mission is fraught with double-crosses, casualties, and a final bloody showdown in a cave base, where Jake confronts her past and the team fights to save the hostages.

Eva Green is the film’s beating heart, delivering a gritty, no-nonsense performance as Jake. Her portrayal of a haunted, steely soldier with a knack for survival shines, especially in visceral action scenes like a standout sword-and-street fight. Campbell, at 81, proves he can still stage competent action, with the climactic assault offering a satisfying barrage of gunfire and explosions.

The all-female team—featuring Maria Bakalova as “The Bomb” and Ruby Rose as “Medic”—brings a fresh twist to the men-on-a-mission trope, and their diverse skill sets (explosives, tech, combat) add some pulpy fun. The premise, while not groundbreaking, taps into real-world tensions, and the film’s R-rated violence—think headshots and neck stabs—delivers for fans of unapologetic action.
